Özet: One of the most important milestones of Islamic history is the Hudaybiya treaty, which is primarily overlooked. The most important event that changed the aim and the course of the expedition and forced the polytheists of Mecca to make a deal in the beginning was the Rıdvan allegiance which was a kind of trust and a a way to express devotion to the Prophet. This allegiance was made under a tree named afterwards “Şeceretü’r-Rıdvan” and it has been held in the limelight by Muslims since the first periods of Islamic history. The Companions of the prophet couldn't find this tree afterwards and there were narrations that Khalifa Omar had cut it down for fear of it becoming a fetish in virtue of excessive interest of the Muslims. Based on this, it is claimed that not any place cannot be considered sacred and worshiping in there will lead the person to polytheism (shirk). In this article, what is aimed is to reach the truth by discussing the Hudeybiye expedition and evaluating the narrations related with felling the tree.
