Özet: Restraining the executive body and the separation of powers have always been controversial topics in the constitutional history of Turkey. And in 2017, commencement of Turkey’s presidential system with the constitutional amendment Law No. 6771 brought up this discussion again. This study investigates how the executive body was shaped in the context of separation of power during the three constitution and one constitutional amendment, which resulted as a change of governmental system, since the early Republican period. Within this context, it compares those amendments by means of establishment of the executive body and their power separation characteristics and thus aims for a more holistic perspective on the relevant literature. As a result, this study showed that, throughout the history of constitutional developments since 1924 Constitution, there’s been a shift from legislative towards executive powers which had its the peak with the Law No. 6771 amending the 1982 Constitution.
