Özet: This study is a general evaluation of the men’s studies in the literature. Men’s studies have entered literature since the 1960s. This area has been developed primarily by taking advantage of the opportunities provided by the field of culture and identity studies. Initially, men’s studies which have criticism of feminism addressed traditional masculinity. Since the 1970s, with the expansion of feminist waves masculinity problems are considered on a similar basis to women’s problems. The construction of hegemonic masculinity has been discussed around gender, and the victimization caused by the sexist social structure has been problematized. Based on this perspective, this study is structured in four main sections. In the first chapter, patriarchy and power relations are discussed. In the second part, hegemonic and traditional masculinity issues are discussed. In the third section, the field of masculinity studies is analyzed. In the last chapter, gender stereotypes in terms of men and women in Turkey is examined. As a result, it is seen that the field of men’s studies has developed as an blooming, interdisciplinary and solidarity field in literature.
