Özet: One of the most important tools of social policy, which is the instrument of welfare state, is undoubtedly social service. Social policy, just as it is effective on social services, it is also a determining factor in social work education in Turkey.  In this study the interaction between social policy and social work education in Turkey were examined periodically. Historical process was traced and documentation method was used. First of all, the basic concepts of this topic, social policy and social work are defined. Subsequently, examined the process of social work education in Turkey and social policy decisiveness on this process were discussed. In the study, where the current problems of social service education are also mentioned, it has been determined that the changes and transformations of Turkish society along with modernization and urbanization not only transform social policy, but also transform the understanding of social work. In relation to this, it has been determined that the acceleration of social service education with the new departments opened in universities is the result of the search for solutions to social needs and problems in line with current social policies.
