Özet: This article seeks to answer how a new approach about foreign policy can be made possible by going beyond the modernist theories such as realism and idealism. Because of that, this article can be viewed as a critique of positivist and modernist theories about foreign policy. In this context, the article's main claim is that separating inside from outside, which is the main argument of the modernist theories, is a problematic approach. To strength this claim, it will be underlined that foreign policy is related to not some specific foreign-oriented practices but also all practices which may range from a movie-scene to a report in a newspaper. This article further advances the view that foreign policy is not only a product of state identity, but it also contributes to the very production of state identity.
