Özet: This paper analyzes Turkey’s energy supply security and resource diversity with regard to consumption patterns, price fluctuations and environmental pressures as their significance is increasing constantly in parallel with the rising demand. The paper introduces consumption trends, expectations on oil prices and the environmental criteria affecting energy sector first at global scale. It then elaborates Turkey’s position by indicating similarities and dissimilarities on its energy consumption patterns with regard to the average of OECD countries, indicates the economic burden of price fluctuations in different cases and discusses its interaction with environmental criteria such as Kyoto. This chapter is followed by a product centered analysis mainly on oil, natural gas, bio-energy and nuclear which aims at mapping Turkey’s futures within the new energy order (N.E.O.) characterized by actor (state and non-state), resource and supply diversification. Interaction between hydrocarbon countries on the one hand, energy demanding countries on the other, is elaborated with regard to rising pressure upon supply and demand sides. The study conceptualizes neopolitics to define a comprehensive strategy in this picture leading to a new power configuration based on energy. The paper finally elaborates Turkey’s initiatives and capabilities in terms of oil and gas transit, bio-fuel production and nuclear energy to indicate the link between neopolitics, security and development
