Özet: Dede Korkut texts which are one of the most studied and investigated written works of the Turkish Language is quite rich of language material. Idioms, proverbs and metaphors included are the expressions that keep their value and often used today. Idioms that compose the vocabulary of the language and exist within the richness standards of the language are cliché expressions preferred in order to use the language more effectively and to understand the things to be expressed more clearly. Cliché expressions gained a place in the language are often used in order to glamorize, strengthen the manner of telling and make the opinion more effective. In this study, the usage of the idioms having an important place in the vocabulary of the languages in the third copy of Dede Korkut has been discussed. In the study, the idioms mentioned in the copy Turkistan/Turkmen Sahara have been determined by using the written work prepared by M. Ekici and named “Dede Korkut Book Turkistan/Turkmen Sahara Copy Soylamalar and 13th Tribe Salur Kazan’s Killing the Seven Head Dragon”. The formation shapes of the idioms determined have been discussed and their equivalents in today’s Turkish have been presented.
