Özet: The mixed research method was adopted in this study, which investigated the attitudes of university students towards distance education and their views on distance education during the COVID-19 epidemic. The research design is the explanatory sequential pattern. In the study, data were collected from 272 students studying at a university in Central Anatolia. Data collection tools are the Attitude towards Distance Education Scale, consisting of 35 items and one dimension, and the Views towards Distance Education Form, which consists of open-ended questions. While the attitude scale was applied to the whole sample, the opinion form was applied to 17 students selected from the sample. The findings show that the average of university students' attitude towards distance education is low and that the attitude does not differ according to the variables of gender, grade level, average daily internet access time, family income and the number of technological devices owned. Views on distance education are examined under the themes of advantages and disadvantages of distance education, the role of instructors in distance education, and the preferred education model. According to the students, distance education provides an economic advantage. The other positive aspects of distance education are that it is flexible and makes it easy to adapt to technology. The disadvantages of distance education have been identified as technical problems and inability to gain full efficiency from lessons. While it is stated as an advantageous situation that exams in distance education are easier, experiencing ethical problems related to exams is seen as a disadvantage. Students' opinions about the role of instructors in the distance education process are generally positive. Students mostly prefer face-to-face education among face-to-face, distance and hybrid education models.
