Özet: In the early periods of human history, medicine and pharmacy were indispensable. Some of Hippocrates' famous aphorisms include knowledges which directly associated with pharmacy. In time, the pharmacy profession has been divided from medicine to create its own mission. In early years, the pharmacist had characterized medical herbs in the nature and prepared their extracts by using various methods to be used in the treatment of several diseases. Therefore, pharmaceutical science had been given in this direction. In the early 20th century with the development of the pharmaceutical industry, pharmacists have started giving training for production process of synthetic drugs. Today, focus of the pharmacist has shifted from "drug to patient". All these changes are organized in line with the dedicated efforts of the related institutions and organizations. As a result, the pharmacy profession has gained a broader mission and vision consistent with developments in health care. This review focuses on the changes in pharmacy education.
