Özet: The narrative refers to the description of people's lived experiences. Stories are composed of organized narratives with a beginning, middle and end in terms of time by gathering the lived experiences together and organizing them chronologically in a plot. Narrative inquiry is the systematic collection, analysis and representation of these stories. Although there is a growing interest in narrative inquiry among qualitative researchers recently and a growing literature on narrative, definitions and applications of narrative research with its own challenges are not yet well understood. In addition to this narrative analysis still continues to be developed with some of the methods involved in conducting the research. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to shed light on the confusion of concepts regarding the definitions of narrative research, to provide practical information about the difficulties encountered in practice, and to create a guide for the design/execution of the research. From this point of view, the definition of the narrative, its foundations and features, and the design of the narrative research are included in the study. In addition, the difficulties encountered while conducting narrative research, ethical issues and the stages to be followed, including the role of the researcher, are discussed in detail by giving examples.
