Özet: Mothers with a disabled child may face various problems both in their private and social lives; they experience more depression, anxiety, and stress compared to the mothers without any disabled child. There is need for information on how they cope with these problems. Having the purpose of determining the coping styles of the mothers with a disabled child and examining the relationship between some characteristics of these mothers and their coping styles, this research was held on 143 mothers whose average age is 34.22 (5.89) and who receive service from two rehabilitation centers in Ankara. As a result of the research, it appeared that the mothers with a disabled child primarily show a selfconfident approach in solving their problems, but a considerable number of mothers were found to be prone to a less self-confident and more submissive approach. It was identified in terms of socio demographic variables that mothers whose level of education and income is lower show submissive approaches. In addition, it was found that mothers who do not have any social support in any kind show a non-confident approach
