Özet: The main purpose of this study is to determine the differential effects of socio-demographic characteristics, disability status, school life and type of social support on self-esteem levels of the visually impaired children who are attending primary school. We could not find any correlations between self-esteem and socio-demographic characteristics and disability status of the visually impaired children who are attending primary school. Self-esteem scores of the visually impaired children whose mothers are not working and being another person who is impaired in the family are found significantly high than the counterpart. Self-esteem level of the children who start the school on time is higher than who start the school earlier and later. Visually impaired children who attend the social activities have higher self-esteem than non-attended and attended those activities rarely. School failure has great effect on the level of selfesteem. Findings indicate that emotional, empathic, informative, reassurance social support has a greater impact on self-esteem level of the visually impaired children who attend primary school
