Özet: The aim of this study was to show importance of home treatment programme in lower limb amputee rehabilitation. Sixty lower limb amputees who applied to Prosthetics- Biomechanics Department for prosthetic fitting were evaluated. The study was carried out on two groups. An exercise programme was given to the first group by a physiotherapist for 10 days and further controls were done once a week since the patients forming the second group were living outside Ankara, home treatment programme was designed for them and called back for controls two months later. All the patients were assessed for their amputation cause, reason and level, stump length and shape, normal joint motion, muscle strength and shortening, motivation, edema and treatment period. Finally, when the two groups were compared for the outcome of rehabilitation, insufficiency in ambulation and motivation was presented in second group besides severe edema, poor muscle strength and limitations in joint motion. It was determined that the first group didn’t show such problems and presented good stump-socket fitting and successful rehabilitation through a shorter treatment period. As a result of the study, regular and controlled home treatment programme is very important in lower limb amputee rehabilitation
