Özet: Participation to political life is an inalienable right for everyone in contemporary democracies. However, persons with disabilities draw on this right extremely limitedly. Participation to political life is one of the indispensible elements of contemporary democracies. Each person participates to the political life at the different level. According to literature, income, occupation, education, gender, location, class and age are the socio-economic factors that affect to the political participation. Sense of being active, sense of civic duty, empathy, sense of being socially assertive, alienation, anomie, and being cynic are the psychological variables. Finally, it mentioned about political variables related to the individuals and environment. Participation levels of the persons with disabilities are extremely low in our country as well as in the world. Especially, there are important difficulties to active participation to the political area. It is not wrong to say that persons with disabilities are sidelined in those criteria, e.g., membership to political parties, assignment to the boards of political parties, being mayor, membership at municipal council, membership at city council, being Member of Parliament. As it known, another important vehicle of the active participation to the political area is being active in nongovernmental organizations. Finally, it is known that persons with disabilities did not take place at the disabled organizations, as well as other civic organizations in terms of membership and as an administrator
