Özet: Introduction: This study was planned to investigate the walking of children with CP from the perspectives of their mothers and mothers’ future expectations of their children by discussing with the literature. Material-Method: This study included 64 children with CP and their mothers. Severity of disability of children were assessed by Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS), mothers assessed their children walking by Functional Gait Assessment (FAQ) and hopelessness of the mothers by Beck Hopelessness Scale (BUÖ). SPSS 15.0 statistical program was used to analyze the data. Results: Mean age of the children was 6.922.14 years and the mothers’ mean age was 32.775.65 years. 30 (46.9%) of the children were girls and 34 (53.1%) were boys. 14(21.9%) of children were in Level I, 13 (20.3%) in Level II, 10(15.6%) in Level III, 20(31.3%) in Level IV and 7 (10.9%) in Level V of GMFCS. 15(23.4%) of children could not walk, 14 (21.9%) walked with support, 18(28.1%) walked with supervision and 17 (26.6%) walked independently according to FAQ. There was significant correlation between GMCS, FAQ and hopelessness levels of the mothers (p=0.005, p=0.002). Severity of disability of children and functional walking capacity of children effected hopelessness levels of their mothers (p=0.037, p=0.022)
