Özet: It is frequently being mentioned that family members with disabled child encounter a set of unpleasant situations in terms of social, economic and physiological. This situation which is hard to be adapted and admitted by families makes the family member, especially who is in care one to one (mostly women), subjected to a series of problems. Therefore, it is assumed that having habits are effective for women’s empowerment. In this research which is based on qualitative method, we aimed that the women’s reading habit visible. The criterion sampling of the study is chosen amongst the purposeful sampling methods, and consists of mostly handicapped 23 women who continue to their education in Special Education and Rehabilitation Center. Study findings show that most of participants prefer reading printed books for enlightening and developing themselves personally, and they need to read more and become conscious in order to deal with the special conditions of being with handicapped children
