Özet: The main purpose of the research is to make the perceptions of the research assistants towards the developing university and their experiences as a research assistants visible. Within the scope of the aim of the research, data generation and analysis techniques of qualitative research were used to make inductive inference by questioning these perceptions and phenomenological design was adopted as a method. Within the scope of qualitative research, 10 research assistants from different faculties of a developing university were included in the study by using purposive sampling method. The study was conducted on a voluntary basis in April 2019. Using semi-structured interview technique, information was collected from research assistants through metaphors and open-ended questions to determine their views and perceptions about their professions. The data were analyzed with thematic content analysis method, computer aided qualitative data analysis program MAXQDA18.2. The visual tools of the program were utilized. According to the results of the content analysis, the data were collected in two main themes: “the experience of being a research assistant” and “the developing university experience”. Participants talked about their experiences in these main themes and made metaphors about their universities and research assistants.
