Özet: In this study, biological and ecological characteristics of the lianas and their functions at ecosystem level are tried to be explained. Lianas are woody climbers who are attached to the soil in every period of their lives and they have a wide distribution area, especially tropical forests. For the last 30 years, there has been an increase in the researches on the effects of the lianas on the forest functions and dynamics, the wide usage areas by the local people and the fight against the lianas in the forest management.
