Özet: This study handles the manastırbend application as an example of how the sources, which are not known sufficiently, produced by Ottoman non-muslims contributed to Ottoman historiography. Manastırbend application, having being applied to Orthodox people through patriarchs, is a kind of exile and jail punishment. In this study, they were examined with published documents in the monastery archives besides Ottoman archival documents. Documents in the Ottoman archive gives information about the process in the Ottoman central government, process in the decision mechanism and the effective figures, also, correspondence in the monastary informs about the levels ahead. The current study takes the Manastırbend application as a process not as a singular events. In addition, it focuses on the timeframe of the mid 18th century to mid 19th century and it reveals the Ottoman-Orthodox people’s place in the face of/inside the central government and puts forth the possible contributions of monastary sources to Ottoman studies.
