Özet: There is not much information available about Hayrettin İlhan’s life, however his only poetry book is “Vatanım İçin İstiklâl Hatıraları” which was published in 1928. Most of his poems are about the years of the Turkish War of Independence. Whilst painting a bleak picture in his first poems, his later poems are more optimistic in nature, with the final victory of the War of Independence. While love appears in only one of his poems, the poet visits the concepts of Turkishness and Pan-Turanism from his own unique artistic perspective. In terms of poetic meters, he uses syllables, and employs the perfect rhyme for his rhyming system while using both folk poetry and Western verse forms.
