Özet: Nuri Pakdil, who started writing by means of magazine publishing when he was just a high school student in 1950s and who has written in many literary genres, is one of the outstanding figures of the Turkish Literature. Nuri Pakdil not only has attracted attention of the Turkish literary people with his essays but he has written plays, diaries, letters, translations and poems also. Nuri Pakdil’s many writings except his poems have been printed as separate books, the first poems‘Edebiyat’,including magazines published in different magazines and newspapers ; but after 1997 it beganto be published as a separat ebook. Nuri Pakdil explained his direction and the purpose of pursuing his art together with his colleagues when he said: “When Mehmet Akif İnan, Erdem Bayazıt, Rasim Özdenören and I decided to issue the ‘'Edebiyat’ın 1969, actually there was a single factor leading us to this attempt: expressing that we hadn’t adopted Westernism as our goal but we were bound up with the native idea and all of its values.” Within this regard resources of Nuri Pakdil’s poems will be explained more extensively in this study. In order to understand his poems well, one should learn more about the environment and mentality he was brought up with. While dealing with a poem, it is crucial to know the personality of the poet, understand his status in his community well, and make comments accordingly. He has never given up walking on the path that is based on Islamic references and that he called ‘the native idea’. He has always expressed himself as an Islamic revolutionist. However, he has never sacrificed literature for the sake of his ideas while explaining his thoughts. He has formed distinctive new images and a specific form in his works. Nuri Pakdil expresses his love for Jerusalem with a passion in most of his writings, especially in his poems. That passion of him has caused him being given the name ‘Poet of Jerusalem’ by the unions of Turkish Literature and Notion. That'swhy, it is important and worth examining the point of view the poet has espoused when he embraced Jerusalem in his poems.
