Özet: arThis research aims at showing the wedding day customs in Anatolia, specifically the city of Tokat. It aims too at explaining its legal provisions and ways of treating the wrong customs in light of Maqasid Al-Shari'a, where the community is keen on attaining joy and happiness on this day, which is what Islam urges people to do. Yet, some people commit some wrong deeds either intentionally or unintentionally, which go against what is prescribed by Al-Shari'a. The researchers used the inductive method to trace the contents of the subject. The analytical approach was employed by the researchers to reveal the customs adopted by the society and to clarify those accepted by Al-Shari’a and those rejected by Al-Sharia and suggesting a proper remedy. The researchers concluded with a number of results, the most important of which is that the purpose of the customs is to show joy on this day even if the society has wrongly applied them correctly. There is a number of recommendations including the necessity to modify the wrong customs in accordance with the purpose of keeping the offspring and showing joy which go in parallel with conditions of Al-Shari’a.
