Özet: How does “non-place” or “place of happiness”, context of which has been constructed again and again since “Utopia” of Thomas More, be appreciated within the context of Modernity Project? Or, if the question is asked in a reverse order; how can Modernity Project be read as an utopia? Within this dual questioning, this text asks for a utopian Modernity concept, which sustains the argument and its consistence under the circumstances of today. In this way, the legitimate ground of discussion will be constructed upon “Utopia”, that is “place”, i.e. the mythical site of Modernity; “city”. Therefore, it will be appropriate to consult with two thinker/writers, who reveal the urban and dreamy one with a dialectical re-reading of both: dream-observer of 20th century, Walter Benjamin and dream-reader of 21st century, Italo Calvino. The dream-city of Benjamin, constructed via the reflecting images on Parisian Arcades, will be re-interpreted within so-called “invisible” cities of Calvino, which are rendered visible with respect to the vigorous attributions based on experience.
