Özet: Aim of this study is to explore the views of children who live in Ankara and their opinions about Ankara which they live in, in the context of initiatives for Child Friendly City. For this purpose, children’s views about Ankara which they live in were evaluated under nine basic themes: (1) general view of the city, (2) traffic, transportation, road and excavation works, (3) avenues and streets, (4) green areas, parks, playgrounds, sports fields, (5)social and cultural facilities, (6) relationships and children approach, (7) street children, homeless and disadvantaged individuals, (8) security of the city, (9) animals and stray animals. This study was conducted as a basic research and general survey model. Samples were composed of totally 83.556 students which were educated at 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th class at 24 different secondary schools in 2013-2014 educational years. As a data collection tools, ‘Ankara Thorough the Eyes of Children Student Questionnaire’ was used. This tool was developed by the researchers and it includes 90 items under 9 themes. Items were scaled according to four grading. Main application was made electronically. Descriptive methods are used for data analyses. Item responses were depicted by considering frequencies and distributions. Children’s positive and negative opinions on Ankara were defined by considering the majority of the responses. As a result, the majority of the children responded positively for 26 percent of the items. These items indicate satisfaction of the children about Ankara. On the other hand, the majority of the children responded negatively for 74 percent of the items. These items indicate the dissatisfaction of the children about Ankara. Children’s positive or negative opinions on their cities are guiding to raise the life standards for Ankara. For this purpose, there are some important duties of decision-makers. Also there are some responsibilities of every people which live in Ankara. For further research, it’s recommended that each theme should research separately and with detailed.
