Özet: Public architecture as it is narrated in this study does not signify buildings with public function or of public property, but it is understood as an organizational and institutional type of architectural production that is housed within the state bureaucracy. The narration specifically dwells on the historical evolution of public architecture in Turkey beginning with the early Republican period and discusses the multiplicity of discursive structures that is entailed within the production of the built environment in the variety of their positions and relations and in the ways they are reflected on contemporary urban environment.
