Özet: Societies are and have been in search for ideal city throughout the history. The search for the “ideal” which is perceived to solve the problems of era, formed urban typologies. Nowadays, one of the most significant problems in settlements are environmental problems. Using natural resources as if they were unlimited means that next generation will have difficulty for to meet their needs in the future. These are directly related to sustainability. Sustainability of the settlement is probably the most important issue that is going to shape future. These subjects affect urban typology studies and parameters of sustainable settlements. There are wide range of settlement models whose goal is sustainability in the world. Even if these models have some differences in scale or methods, the major similarity is that their goal is to become eco-friendly and sustainable. Today, the most common models are eco-cities and slow cities (cittaslow). In this study, comparison of the eco-city and slow city are evaluated. These models are compared with sustainability's economic, ecologic and social dimensions. Similarities, differences of the models and the effects of the urban typologies are mentioned. According to results of the research, eco-cities in Turkey pay attention to ecological dimension.  As for slow cities in Turkey, they carry out the projects which include all dimensions almost evenly.
