Özet: Economical re-construction with neoliberal policies is at the agenda of Turkey, starting with the globalization affairs of 1980’s. Urban space, with an urban transformation understanding in planning, is transformed to investment areas for the use of the capitalists who are directed to urban development. Especially during 2000’s, urban transformation supported with various tools like legal arrangements, public-capital cooperation, the construction sector replacing the sector of production, reached to the power of re-shaping the urban space. In this medium, industrial production zones with the pretext of their being non functional, are opened to be the new construction areas. Their industrial and cultural heritage values are denied. The excuse and legitimacy support of this application relies on the lack of industrial heritage concept in conservation regulations, they are not being found valuable enough in the context of conservation of modern architecture, or the abundance of cultural heritage to various initiatives. In Turkey, while the loss of industrial heritage with rant focused interferences are broadened; the international platforms are widening the context of industrial heritage and conservation principles. In this study, “Ankara Sugar -Şeker-Factory” with its settlement composition, existing buildings, production mechanisms and with its traces in urban memory, is taken into consideration with its place in industry, technology and social development of sugar production industry also industrial architecture of the 1960s in Turkey which is on the way to be lost forever. Thus, it is aimed to be documented as industrial archaeology, to provide the distinction and sustainability of industrial heritage.
