Özet: Urban memory is the ability of individuals to keep, maintain and - when necessary- reveal the experiences, sensations, comprehensions gathered from physical environment. This environmental information codlings are of urban images, buildings, streets, statues, fountains, parks, topographic-natural etc. data. To reveal the physical and sensational relation that individuals construct with the city, some methods have been developed. This study uses the method of “creating mind mapping (cognitive mapping)” to reveal the individual-city interaction cognitive maps are created by remembrance of these coded urban images and via a graphic narrative language in which oral and geometric elements are used on paper. Even though Eskisehir can be considered luckier in terms of the speed of change in comparison with metropolitan cities, still the city loses some of the elements of memory from past to present. In this study, to determine the urban images belong to Eskisehir in the past and in our day, university students who have a short period experience of the city and individuals over 60 who have experienced the city from past till our day were asked to note the areas they interact with the city on the cognitive map. In these readings it has been seen that there is no change in the symbolical structures belonging to public while the areas of culture-entertainment and commerce have been transformed as well as the loss of actuality of green areas used in the past in relation with the occurrence of new thematic green areas and it was seen that a new statue symbolism have been generated.
