Özet: Urban spaces are essentially organic structures at both the morphological and the perceptional level. The organic structure is continuously reshaped by external stimulus on individuals who comprise the public. The stimuli bequeathed from one generation to the next make up the abstract, concrete, perceptional, physical, social, cultural, economic and political systems of a multi-layer image. All these contents are the primary pillars fostering the development of the social urban memory.  In this context, the article aims to investigate the urban conservation discipline and practice with reference to contemporary concepts, perspectives and issues, and focuses on the wider theme of "conservation of urban memory and identity" with reference to the model of "conservation and revitalization of the industrial heritage site". One of the current national-level problems and concerns regarding urban conservation, the concept of "transformation" is assessed with reference to the transformation process of the "Trabzon Tekel Building", is to discuss the conserved and/or lost urban memory and identity. The article which intends to arrive at a reading of the collective urban memory concept for the historical urban center of Trabzon, contrasting the state before and after the transformation of the building, aims to bring voices to overlapping, subsequent and simultaneous spatial developments through the concept of "oral history". During the analysis of the data gathered, the "Non-Places" concept of the anthropologist Marc Augé is used as the tool of data analysis. Based on that concept, the written, visual and oral data is discussed in the article, in close association with the "historical", "relational", and "identifier" concepts of Augé. The negative and positive associations thus established helped track the cases of maintaining and/or failing to maintain urban collective memory.
