Özet: Teaching vocabulary has an important place in foreign language teaching. Because learning a new language starts with learning the words of that language. It is not enough to know the meaning of a word alone in order to know exactly and use it effectively. As vocabulary gets richer, language skills improve along with grammar proficiency. It is seen that the necessary importance has not been given to vocabulary teaching until today. Considering that vocabulary acquisition depends on students' individual efforts, vocabulary teaching is neglected during education for the development of grammar and language skills. With this research, it is aimed to emphasize the importance of vocabulary teaching, which is not emphasized in Turkish as a foreign language, and to make an evaluation on the issues, methods and techniques that should be considered during vocabulary teaching. The techniques used in teaching vocabulary in a foreign language provide easy and permanent learning of words. It is possible for individuals who learn Turkish to use and communicate effectively with effective vocabulary teaching. One of the most important issues to be considered in teaching Turkish as a foreign language is vocabulary teaching. In order to improve Turkish communication skills, importance should be given to vocabulary teaching. For this, the aim and level of learning Turkish of the target audience must be known. The purpose of knowing these is to be able to teach vocabulary with methods and techniques suitable for them. While teaching words with these techniques, it is necessary to know the words to be taught and how many words to be taught. The study is important in terms of drawing attention to teaching Turkish words as a foreign language and guiding teachers through the literature review. The study was conducted based on document analysis, one of the qualitative research methods. In the study, the importance of improving vocabulary in teaching Turkish as a foreign language, the methods and techniques to be used for this purpose, the factors affecting vocabulary teaching, and the points to be considered in vocabulary teaching, are emphasized and suggestions on the subject are presented.
