Özet: Obos, which consist of the vertical arrangement of stones, are among the least examined Turkish cultural works. in the Turkestan's geography and in Turkey examples cultural assets seen several of obos not studied in detail. The fact that they are rarely mentioned in historical sources, different interpretations about the reasons for their creation and taking place in the ceremonial grounds, being considered a sacred place by the public may constitute the reasons for the lack of sufficient investigation about obos. The obos, which are used for purposes such as organizing ceremonies according to the geography they are located in, pointing out the structure of the tomb, and guiding the boundaries, have different names according to their purpose of use, location and geography. Despite the religious changes that took place in the past from their geographies, the obos came to be on the axis of the Kök Tengri religion, mountain, ancestors and stone beliefs, and they carry the traces of the old religious structure intensely. The buildings in Meke Village within the borders of Menteşe district of Muğla, which constitute the subject of the study and which can be considered as one of the most prominent examples of the cult, include all the elements of the obo cult . They are important Turkish cultural assets in terms of understanding the reasons for the construction of these structures, their place in the culture and the reasons of the sacredness attributed to them by the public. This article examines their purpose for construction.
