Özet: The most up-to-date and solid example of this situation was the disinformation in social media during the Covid-19 pandemic period. In this challenging period, lots of fake news have emerged stating that the measures taken by the authorities were insufficient, countless numbers of fake social media profiles were opened wordwide by anonymous people, who immediately shared false images, voices and news. Social media platforms and networks were deliberately used just to drive the public in to the panic and anxiety. This fact alone implies that it is now necessary to make some new regulations in the field. In this study, the basic terms relating to the topic were explored first. After that, current examples in comparative law were analyzed in order to see how the other countries react to this problem. As a matter of fact, we have observed that, comprehensive regulations related to this issue were legalized in the other countries in the past three years. With such result, we tried to approach the necessity of the new regulation known as “Social Media Law” from a different standpoint.
