Özet: In a globalizing and rapidly growing world, each country seeks to develop its existing potentials from the socio-economic, cultural and technology point of view in most rational and appropriate way by prioritizing integration and sustainability among the sectors. Alternative tourism with a significant potential is situated within the tourism sector in Turkey should be triggered for specifically socio-economic development as well as considerable progress in all aspects. Countries that can take the economic, social, cultural and technological developments and changes in the world in time and on the spot can reach advanced situations. Especially since the beginning of the 1970s, countries have started to emphasize alternative tourism preferences in regions where air, water, soil, visual and noise pollution are not seen. Alternative tourism also prevents immigration and unemployment to a great extent by eliminating social imbalances in undeveloped or unsuitable areas for industrial development. Alternative tourism enhances the success and motivation of the people by preserving the health and vigor of the people of the region, strengthening them in physical, mental, cognitive and social aspects. In addition, public awareness is raised for the protection of natural, historical, archaeological sites and structures. In this study, the alternative tourism potential of Yozgat and its effects on regional development will be evaluated. On the other hand, by taking into consideration the field research conducted in 14 districts including the central district of Yozgat and the researches carried out on this subject, the fact that Yozgat has significant alternative tourism potential has been reached by evaluating with SWOT Analysis and qualitative research method with face to face interviews with local stakeholders.
