Özet: The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between university student’s metacognitive awarenesslevels, gender, department and their academicachievement levels. This study sample is composed of (n:338) university student’s chosen randomly and studied atAkdeniz University departments of the Fine Arts Facultyand Department of Physical Education and Sports.Metacognitive Awareness Inventory (MAI), which isdeveloped by Schraw and Dennison (1994) and adoptedinto Turkish by Abacı, Çetin and Akın (2006) and personal information sheet were used in this study asmeasurement instrument. Arithmetic mean, weighted average and standard deviation" statistical techniques and t-test analysis were used in data analysis According to researh findings,there is no difference between student gender and metacognitive awareness. Besides, metacognitive awareness levels of studying students Fine Art Faculty isstatistically found high than studying at PESC. Universtiy students whose high academic sucess perception is found high level metacognitive awareness.
