Özet: Cyanobacterial blooms are increasing frequency and threatening water sources worldwide. Eutrophication caused by organic pollution in water bodies provides an environment for the deterioration of water quality and the formation of cyanobacterial increases in lakes and reservoirs. 40 species of cyanobacteria are known as producers of some toxins responsible for a wide array of health problems, dangerous for aquatic organisms and responsible for bird kills. These toxins are divided as hepatotoxin, neurotoxin and dermatotoxins according to their effects. In this review, cyanobacterial blooms and risks in inland waters will be discussed.
