Özet: The Ottoman Empire has attached substantial importance to the art of weaving since its foundation. The art of weaving is an ancient tradition that is rooted in the Seljuk period. The people first crafted textiles for self-reliance in almost every part of Anatolia. Since the weavings' function was towards daily needs, very few examples have survived to the present due to deterioration from usage and time. Since the textiles belonged to courtiers were the sultan's property, only these have been kept hidden and remained a collection until today. Therefore, fabric motifs preserving the cultural traces of the Ottoman Empire have survived until today and reveal the traditional culture from the past. Motifs, each with a different meaning, are cultural resources. This research analyzes floral-based motifs used in Ottoman fabrics with a contemporary art movement, minimalism and presents poster designs with interpreted motifs. This study is deemed important since it propounds Ottoman motifs reflecting a long span of history and revealing the taste, thought, belief and culture of that community. The research utilizes a qualitative ethnographic research method. The research sample comprises 6 motif samples as tulip, rose, carnation, hyacinth, leaf and tree. The judgement sampling method was used for sampling. Ottoman fabric motifs were interpreted with minimalism, and poster designs were prepared to bring the motifs back to the current debate, interpret them and ensure their survival.
