Özet: arيركز البحث على موضوع التعليم كأحد الأدوات التي استعملها الأجانب ورعايا الدولة العثمانية من الطوائف المسيحية واليهودية للتغلغل داخل المجتمع المسلم في بيت المقدس، والنفوذ إلى مفاصل الدولة والتحكّم فيها. ويسعى البحث للكشف عن جهود الدول الغربية للتغلغل في مدينة بيت المقدس وتكوين نفوذ دائم فيها عن طريق نشر المدارس بمختلف مستوياتها: ابتدائية، رشدية، إعدادية وعالية. ولأجل الوصول إلى النتائج تم الاعتماد على إحصائيات سالنامة نظارة المعارف العثمانية (سنة 1899م) حول أعداد المدارس الأجنبية وطلاّبها، والمقارنة بينها وبين عدد السكّان الأجانب الإجمالي، وأعداد المدارس العثمانية وعدد طلابها، من أجل تحديد مدى هيمنة الأجانب على التعليم ببيت المقدس.
