Özet: ar The Ottoman Empire left a clear imprint on the city of Bayt al-Maqdis during its four-century rule, especially with regard to the city's infrastructure (walls, towers, citadels, roads, water fountains, lodges, schools, hospitals, markets amongst others), until it became known as the Ottoman city, due to the many economic, social and cultural positives impacts of the Ottoman rule throughout the history of the Holy City until the contemporary period, still felt to this very day. Successive Ottoman Sultans, through their distinctive interest in the city, contributed to its reconstruction and development at all levels. This was a result of the many projects and budgets allocated together with other material and human resources allocated to the Holy City throughout the Ottoman period.
