Özet: National parks and canyons are among the areas where nature sports are mostly practiced. Kastamonu, one of the provinces of the Western Black Sea region of Turkey, has a mountainous and rugged terrain. In this structure, Kastamonu province, which is rich in the canyon, is thought to have important tourism potential. In this study, it was aimed to examine the current state of the canyons from the sources of geotourism in Kastamonu province from the point of view of Tourism. In the research, the information collected about the field with the written document review technique was subjected to content analysis. There are 104 canyon in 44 provinces in Turkey. The most canyons in Turkey are located in the Mediterranean region (34), The Black Sea region (28), the Aegean Region (17), respectively. The highest number of canyons are found in Antalya (12), then Kastamonu, Karabük, Muğla (8). There are a total of eight canyons in Kastamonu province, including Çatak, Horma, Ersizlerdere-Karacehennem, Şehriban, Valla, Hacıveli, Malyas and Gömeran canyons. These canyons have different dimensions from 12 km in length to 850 meters in depth. It has been found that superstructure works have a positive effect on tourism, especially in Çatak and Horma canyons. In this context, in order to gain the potential of canyons, which are the source of natural tourism, to tourism; institutions and organizations should prepare technical reports of canyons in cooperation and complete activities such as infrastructure, superstructure, promotion, investment in a planned manner.
