Özet: In this study, opinions of social studies teachers about in-service trainings have been investigated using quantitative methods.105 social studies teachers working in public schools in İstanbul Küçükçekmece affiliated to the Ministry of National Education participated in this research. In the analysis of teachers' responses for 20 different activities, descriptive analysis was made with the SPSS statistical program and in this way, the percentage and frequency distributions of the data were obtained. As a result, it was determined that the participation of social studies teachers in the training, seminar and course activities named in the survey is low. In addition, it has been observed that social studies teachers have very low level of participation in other courses, education and seminars apart from those 20 activities named in the survey. According to the results of the analysis, it was observed that the teachers did not consider themselves sufficient regarding the training, seminar and course activities which they did not attend. According to another analysis’ result, it was observed that social studies teachers did not consider the activities in the survey unnecessary for the social studies field and stated that they could participate in these activities in the future. In the research, the activities that the social studies teachers attended the most and the activities they attended the least were determined. In addition, activities in which social studies teachers' perceptions of competence were highest and lowest were determined. In addition, among the activities in the survey, the activities that teachers deemed most unnecessary and necessary for the social studies field were determined.
