Özet: Universities want to increase their institutional success and sustainability by having talented employees and retaining them, as in every organization. It is important to evaluate the potential and performances of PhD students in the context of talent management since these students are potential academic staff in universities. For this reason, in this research, it was aimed to determine the potential and performance of PhD students by identifying their academic scores, academic publications, academic skills, academic ethics, leadership and information literacy. For this purpose, the descriptive survey model was used in the research. PhD Students studying in the Institute of Social Sciences, Institute of Educational Sciences, Institute of Health Sciences and Institute of Science and Technology of Fırat University during the 2015-2016 education year who passed the proficiency test, and the faculty members who are the advisors of these students constituted the study group of the research determined using the criterion sampling method, which is one of the purposeful sampling methods. The "Academic Potential Evaluation Criteria Scale for PhD Students" and the Academic Performance Evaluation Criteria Form for PhD Students" were used as the data collection tools in the research. The scale and forms were ensured to be filled out by conducting face-to-face interviews with the students in the study group or online. An attempt to reveal the academic potential and performances of PhD students was made by performing descriptive statistics through the data obtained as a result of the application with the help of WEKA program.
