Özet: Globalization, which took place at the end of the 20th century, both eliminated national barriers to the economy and increased the value of local and regional actors as pioneers and triggers of economic development and regional development. For this reason, new approaches to regional development have been developed by integrating local elements into the decision-making process in development policies. In this context, regional development policies are being reshaped within the scope of new regionalism, not only in Turkey but also all over the world. In this study, the concept of the region is first defined and the subject of regional planning is examined. Then, the transformation in the understanding of development and the traditional regional development policies. Finally regional development and regional development policies and analysed the new regionalism approach to Turkey in the new regionalism approach.
