Özet: When an importer country plans to go a distinction between countries, it has to establish a link between imported and exported goods and has to use the country of origin and rules of origin defined as the economic nationality. Istanbul Customs Laboratory that provides scientific based information to customs authorities has been equipped with the single system in Turkey that is the most powerful technique in isotopic and origin analysis. Moreover this system is very rare in Europe and even in the world. This article gives a brief information about the basic principles of isotopic analysis and applications of isotopic analysis that have been done for the first time in Turkey and will be carried out in the future.
