Özet: Nowadays, elderly population has been gradually increasing with improved life standards and health studies. Due to this increase, establishing urban spaces satisfying physiological, psychological and social needs of them is very important in terms of life quality. Especially, the usability of the structural elements and components in the public sphere and the current state are the starting point of the research. İt, carried out in Heybeliada,İstanbul where urban density and mobility is less, particularly in winter, discussed "How to use of urban spaces" by the individuals of 65 years and older. The tendency and satisfaction levels of people were measured by considering social and physical differences. Finally, the results of survey and analysis reveal the proficiency level of public places and the problems faced. İt has been observed that the places, designed for giving chance to elderly people to act independently and interact socialy affect the level of active usage.
