Özet: A person's identity is how the person defines who he or she is. Our identity is the core of us as human beings. Identity may be termed as social/cultural and personal. Cultural and national/regional identities can stand for the same concepts. During identity formations individuals can develop these categories of identity at different levels. Personal identity is related one person’s personal goals, values, ideas, emotions, and feelings. Cultural identity is related to the sense of belonging to the social world. It is related to one’s race, religion, ethnic group, social gender role. People generally exaggerate the status of the group to which they belong. That is why its effect on education can be high. Researchers have been trying to understand the relationship between the learning and the social world. The aim of this study is to emphasize the relationship between cultural identity and learning. This will help to develop a basis to understand if there is a need to understand cultural identity differences in classes to increase the level of the education. Teachers can help students feel comfortable with their cultural identity and help them in their learning by using a multicultural teaching approach. At the other side teachers continually bring their culture into the class. They bring their personalities and teaching styles that are shaped by social and cultural interactions. The danger is being unaware of this. As a result it is a necessity to give a multicultural education course both theoretic and practical for all student teachers.
