Özet: Purpose: The purpose of this research is to descriptively examine the texts and questions of the Reading Skills book for 4th graders, which was distributed as a support book by the Ministry of National Education in the 2022-2023 academic year. Method and Materials: In this study, document analysis design was used. The 4th grade Reading Skills book was subjected to descriptive analysis by two researchers. The textual structure and readability levels of the texts in the book were examined. The questions in the book were evaluated according to the cognitive levels in the Barrett taxonomy. Results: According to the results obtained from the research, it has been revealed that 80% of the texts used in the book have medium difficulty readability levels and 80% of them are informative texts. It was agreed that most of the questions in the book consisted of open-ended questions and multiple-choice questions were frequently included in the book. As a result of the classification of the questions according to Barrett's Taxonomy, it was revealed that literal comprehension questions took place more than other steps in the book.
