Özet: Traditional houses bearing the traces of the period they are in are examples of civil architecture that reflect the cultural essence of the society in which they exist. However, the change in the socio-cultural and socio-economic values ​​of the society has also changed the cultural identity and living conditions; It has differentiated the expectations of individuals from the houses and the existing houses have become unable to meet the new requirements. Instead of the disappearance of these structures with a passive protection approach, their sustainability can be ensured by re-functioning. The relationship of the building with the environment and space plays an important role in determining the suitability of the new function. Re-functioning within the scope of the study; Depending on the suitability of the old space-new function, it has been evaluated under two headings as "functional suitability in terms of spatial" and "functional suitability in terms of environmental" in particular for Mehmet Efendi Mansion. As a result of the evaluations, the building was found suitable in terms of the relationship between the old space and the new function in accordance with the criteria determined in terms of spatial and environmental aspects.
