Özet: Out-of-school learning environments are active learning environments that are used for a variety of learning levels and disciplines ranging from pre-school to higher education. Museums are at the forefront of out-of-school learning environments preferred by teachers in this context. Although there is a common definition for museums, they differ according to their types. The purpose of this study was to determine the experiences of pre-school prospective teachers with a trip organized to the "Taşkın Museum," a thematic museum. The method of special case study was chosen for this study. The sample of the study consists of the prospective teachers studying in the Faculty of Education Pre-school Teaching Program. The interview forms developed by the researchers before and after the trip were used as a pre-test and post-test with the prospective teachers. The findings revealed that the majority of prospective teachers had prior experience with out-of-school learning. The most frequently expressed expectation by prospective teachers prior to their visit to the Taşkın Museum was the desire to obtain detailed information about the museum and natural disasters. However, prospective teachers reported that this trip helped them plan out-of-school learning activities, implement concrete learning, and develop creative thinking skills. In addition to these findings, the majority of prospective teachers stated that the trip met their expectations. Prospective teachers have been observed to be aware of what to do before, during, and after an out-of-school learning activity, and they have suggestions for activities that can be carried out with preschool students in this direction. Prospective teachers’ experiences should be varied by organizing similar trips in various out-of-school learning environments. Furthermore, it is believed that planning out-of-school learning activities in which students participate will be beneficial to their professional development.
