Özet: Mechanical engineering education is costly and timeconsuming difficult process and it covers key issues such as manufacturing and materials needed in every sector. Updating the contents of course and reference books used in engineering according to technological developments will contribute positively to this process. In a world where the technology is continuously developing and rapidly digitalization with the concepts of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0, knowing detail the course reference books which is the most valuable material in education is an important step for the professional future of newly graduated engineers. They should know at what stage of these books in technological progress to complementing lack of knowledge properly. In this study; the reference books recommended by lecturers in the Material, and Manufacturing Methods (Plastic deformation of metals and Machining) which are among compulsory courses given in mechanical engineering education were examined. By reviewing of the reference books used in mechanical engineering according to their published years and languages, their up-to-date status has been determined. As a result, it has been observed that the books dated 2010 and earlier have been advised to the students. Morever, it can be easily understood that the lecturers giving the lecture itself have not sticked to the language of education while suggesting a textbook. In the last part of the study, suggestions for improving the course books are proposed.
