Özet: The article explores the issues of plot typology. It is discussed the literary-theoretical thought, classifications related to plot typology. Chronicle and concentric circle plot structures are described in a more scientific generalization of the historical period of development of the plot. In romance studies of the world and Azerbaijan, the progress of the plot structure from chronicle to concentric circle that leads to reduce the volume of the genre, as well as complicate the composition system, and enriches literary analysis to philosophical generalization are analyzed in the article. It is studied the typology of the concentric plot and differences between plots structure in the Azerbaijani novel. The analysis focus on Y. Samedoglu's «Day of Murder» and Elchin's «Death entence» novels. It is explained the condition created by metafiction structure which is widely used in world literature, that is realized in the «Day of Murder» novel too. It has investigated the possibilities of metafiction structure that combine the events of different periods, its role in what the work of authors gains polyphonic content, and how national society values transform into an expression of mankind values
